STORRS- Three Huskies earned USTFCCCA regional honors after a very successful indoor track & field season.
Director of Track & Field and Head Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan was named Northeast Region Women's Coach of the Year. Associated Head Coach Selwyn Maxwell, Jr. earned Northeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year honors and sophomore Maresa Hense was named Northeast Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year.
Alford-Sullivan led the Huskies to the team title at the Big East Indoor Championships, scoring 169 points and winning three events. UConn had 30 top-10 program marks this season, led by school record setter and Second Team All-American Maresa Hense in the pentathlon.
Maxwell coached Husky athletes to account for 86 of Connecticut's 169 points in winning the team title at the Big East Indoor Championships. His athletes were led by a 1-2-3-4 finish in the pentathlon that did not include Marese Hense, who earned Second Team All-America honors in setting a program record of 4231 points at the NCAA DI Indoor Championships.
Hense took down a program record in the pentathlon at the NCAA DI Indoor Championships when she scored 4231 points. Earlier in the season, Hense tallied 11 points in field events at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, finishing third in the long jump and fourth in the high jump.
