Maresa Hense Garners All-American Honors in the Heptathlon

EUGENE, OR – Saturday marked the final day of competition at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Oregon's Hayward Field as sophomore Maresa Hense earned All-American second team honors thanks to an 10th-place finish in the heptathlon.
Hense came home in the 10-spot thanks to a new personal best of 5,872 points over the eight events. Hense put the cap on her championship weekend by posting a win in the final event, taking home a first place finish in the 800m at 2:10.5.
She was 12th in the high jump with a new personal best height of 1.72m and 14th in the shot put, setting another personal best at 11.94m. She finished 14th in the 100m hurdles (13.95) and seventh in the 200m (24.14) to close out Friday's events.
Saturday saw another personal best, this one to kick-off the day in the long jump. She finished eighth with a leap of 6.04m. She was 19th in the javelin (34.27m) before her win in the 800m to close the meet.
Hense improved on her 15th place finish last season. She has now earned All-American second team honors in back-to-back seasons and was a second-team All-American at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships as well.
On Thursday, UConn junior Josh Mooney finished eighth in the decathlon for earn All-American status as well.
