Incoming Husky Sophie Thomas Anchors World U20 Record in Mixed 4x100 Relay

EUGENE, Ore. - Incoming UConn track & field freshman Sophie Thomas helped make history on Thursday at the World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 2026, anchoring Great Britain & Northern Ireland to a world U20 record in the mixed 4x100-meter relay.

Thomas ran the anchor leg as Great Britain & Northern Ireland's quartet of Divine Iheme, Savannah McKenzie Morgan, Mathew Ajayi and Thomas crossed the finish line in 41.60 seconds, setting a new world U20 record.

The record-setting performance came shortly after Australia's team of Uwezo Lubenda, Maya Taber, Kelechi Ekwomadu and Thewbelle Philp posted a world U20 record of 41.64 in the opening heat.
