STORRS, CONN. - University of Connecticut quarterback Dan Orlovsky has accepted an invitation to play in the 2005 East-West Shrine Game. The 80th edition of the annual All-Star event will be played on January 15 at SBC Park (formerly Pacific Bell Park) in San Francisco.
Orlovsky will be just the third Husky to ever partake in the prestigious event. Uyi Osunde was invited to play this past year but missed the game after having minor knee surgery.
"Being invited to play in this game is an extraordinary honor," Orlovsky said. "This is very gratifying and I feel extremely fortunate to have been so rewarded with this opportunity. I am lucky to be surrounded by the kind of great people that are on the UConn coaching staff and beside me in the locker room. Without them this invitation would not be possible."
Recently elected as a team captain by his peers, Orlovsky enters his senior season poised to break all of the school’s career passing records. His 61 career touchdown passes rank second in the nation amongst active passers while his 7,352 career passing yards rank him eighth nationally.
