EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (August 7, 2005) - The University of Connecticut football team held its annual media Day on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Here are some photos from the event.
Left: The day began with lunch and head coach Randy Edsall addressing the state media in the club lounge at Rentschler Field...Right: Meanwhile, the team's support staff, the teams behind the team, posed on the field for their group photos. Here the UConn video staff gathers for its shot. Athletic trainers and equipment managers soon followed.
Co-captains James Hargrave (left) and Deon McPhee (right) followed Edsall for a formal media session. Amongst the topics discussed, one non-football matter was a popular subject, the involvement of Hargrave, McPhee and a dozen of their teammates in a Willimantic Positive Steps mentoring program that recently received positive state-wide attention in judicial circles.
Left: Next up was the team photo with Edsall and the co-captains front and center...Right: Hard-working photographer Steve Slade aligns the large group for the photo.
Left: Everyone had a series of photos and interviews after the team photo. Amongst the stops on the circuit, all 101 players recorded their "Monday Night Football" styled introduction that will air on the Rentschler Field video board before kickoff if they are in that day's starting lineup. Defensive end Harold Stanback tapes his here...Right: Each of the Huskies also posed for a photo that will adorn the top of their lockers. Here freshman offensive lineman Mike Hicks strikes a pose.
Left: Freshman quarterback Billy Cundiff meets with "the horde" for the first of what will likely be many times as a Husky...Right: Back in the UConn lineup, tailback Terry Caulley sits down for a formal interview with Bob Rumbold from FOX 61.
There was also a time for posed group photographs. Fans attending the Buffalo game on September 1st will see this photo of Edsall and the team captains on the cover of that day's game program. Slade is in action again taking the shot with some assistance from the program's graphic designer, Chad Turner of GO media. (AP Photo)
