Men's Soccer Ranked No. 1 By Soccer America

STORRS, Conn. (September 12) - The University of Connecticut men’s soccer team is ranked No. 1 in this week’s Soccer America poll, released Monday on the magazine’s Web site. The Huskies moved to 4-0-0 on the year with wins over George Mason and UNC Greensboro over the weekend at the adidas-Brown Classic in Providence, R.I.
Led by M.A.C. Hermann Trophy candidates Julius James (Maloney Gardens, Trinidad) and Mpho Moloi (Soweto, South Africa), UConn is off to its best start in the last seven years under head coach Ray Reid. Team leading scorers Ryan Cordeiro (Highland Mills, N.Y.) and National Player of the Week Chukwudi Chijindu (Fontana, Calif.) have each posted five points off two goals and an assist through four games in 2005. Prior to Sunday’s game against nationally-ranked UNC Greensboro, each of the Huskies’ goals had been scored by a different player.
Top-ranked UConn is set to head back out on the road to take on Cincinnati Friday at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to Louisville for a Sunday contest at 2:00 p.m.
