Freshman Renee Montgomery
What is your attitude going into the tournament?
"We just want to win, at all costs. No matter who we are playing, what their game plan is, for us to execute our game plan and to play to our best ability is the main thing. We can't worry about what everybody else is doing; we just need to worry about ourselves."
Do you think you are in a good spot now, coming out of the BIG EAST Tournament?
"Yes, I think the BIG EAST Tournament gave us more confidence and let us know we can do it. When you win a tournament you jut feel really good, even if it's not a good win you just feel good about winning. I think that was the best part because now we have confidence going into the NCAA Tournament."
Senior Barbara Turner
Is it weird for you to be leaving for the first and second rounds?
"No, it's not weird at all. Actually I'm happy we are going on the road. It would be kind of fun to get away, be in a different atmosphere and see what kind of fan base follows us along. I think we're all looking forward to that."
Is it an advantage for you to be number two and pretty close to home?
"I don't think it matters during the NCAA Tournament. It's about what team is playing well, it doesn't matter where. That's the way we have to treat it. Yes. there is the possibility that we could play at home, but if we're not playing well then that won't matter."
Sophomore Mel Thomas
On Ann's performance in the BIG EAST championship game
"She just carried us during the last few minutes. I just gave her the ball and I knew that she was going to put us on our back and win the game for us. That's basically what she did."
Senior Ann Strother
As a senior, does getting to play in Connecticut again mean something more to you?
"It does a little bit. I think wherever we would have gone would have been great too, but the fact that we've been to Bridgeport, we kind of know it a little bit better and getting to stay in Connecticut too is going to be great."
Are there certain teams that you would like to play toward the end of the tournament?
"I don't think so. Right now, in this kind of time, you just have to take whoever you get. I think you look forward to whoever is in your bracket and that's the attitude you have to embrace. I'm just excited."
