Women's Tennis Opens Play At ITA East Regional

NORFOLK, Va. (October 19, 2007) - Qualifying play began Friday for two members of the University of Connecticut women's tennis team at the ITA East Regional, hosted by Old Dominion.
Fifth-seeded Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) fell to Maryland's Maggie Mackeever, 7-5, 6-2 in singles action.
Herb then teamed up with BreAnn Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) for doubles action. They received a walkover in the first round of competition before being defeated by Columbia's Lauren Shearer and Stephanie Zilberman, 8-4, in the second round.
Kelly LoRusso (Shoreham N.Y.) and Ali Campitiello (New York, N.Y.) take to the courts Saturday in main draw play in both singles and doubles play.
