Women's Tennis Loses Heartbreaker To Rutgers 4-3

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 11, 2007) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team lost a heartbreaking match to Rutgers, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon in Piscataway, N.J.
The Huskies began the match by taking the doubles point. Freshman Alli Campitiello (New York, N.Y.) and Kelley LoRusso (Shoreham, N.Y.) teamed up at No. 2 for a 9-8 win over Polina Zaretser and Caitlin Baker. Sophomore Breann Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) and junior Jess Porter (Duluth, Ga.) were 9-8 winners over Christine Tran and Lauren Edelschein at No. 3 to take the first point.
In singles, LoRusso defeated Anela Dujic at No. 2 6-0, 6-3. Cheung came up with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Baker at No. 4.
The Huskies return to action on Friday afternoon at St. John's with match time set for 3 p.m.
