Football Places Five on BIG EAST All-Academic Team

STORRS, Conn. (February 7, 2008) --- Five members of the University of Connecticut football team from the 2007 season, Brad Kanuch (Johnstown, Pa.). Tyler Lorenzen (Fremont, Iowa), Zak Penwell (Fairbanks, Alaska), Alex Polito (Reading, Pa.) and Derek Rich (Gainesville, Ga.) were named to Thursday to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Each of the five is being recognized for the first time.
To qualify the student-athletes must be a letterwinner for the 2007 season, boast a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0 and have completed at least two semesters of full-time academic work at the school.
The Huskies will return to the field on March 18 when spring practice begins in Storrs. The team’s 15 practices will culminate with the annual Blue-White Spring Game on Saturday, April 19 at Rentschler Field.
