Former UConn Baseball Star, Jesse Carlson, Joins the Toronto Blue Jays for 2008 Season

STORRS, Conn. (April 13, 2008) — Former University of Connecticut baseball player, Jesse Carlson, has joined the Toronto Blue Jays in the Major League for the 2008 season.
Carlson, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound left handed pitcher, joined the Blue Jays on their 25-man active roster on Wednesday, April 9. The Blue Jays acquired the contract of Carlson from their Triple-A squad in Syracuse.
The graduate from Berlin High School is a native of New Britain, Conn. and played for the UConn Huskies from 2000-2002 before starting his career out of the Detroit Tigers organization after being drafted in the 15th round (440th overall) in the 2002 draft. At UConn he posted a 4.50 ERA as a starting pitcher for the Huskies.
Carlson led the Huskies during his collegiate career as he was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team as a freshman after the 2000 season.
Carlson has appeared in two games for the Blue Jays so far this season as he has thrown two innings while allowing no hits and struck out two.
