STORRS, Conn. (Sept. 29, 2008) – The University of Connecticut held its weekly football media luncheon on Tuesday for Saturday's game against North Carolina. Here are selected quotes from the event.
Head Coach Randy Edsall
How does Zach Frazer (QB) have to prepare differently for this week?
“He has to prepare just how he has every other week. Any other week he was preparing like he might be into the game. He has to watch the film and take the game plan and execute the game plan. He needs to go out and practice this week to get himself up to speed with everything. I just want him to go out and have fun and play the game the way he’s capable of playing.”
What did you learn about Zach Frazer during the Louisville game?
“I liked his poise in the game; I think he did a good job of going in and just having fun. He was just taking it one play at a time, which is what you need to do as QB. He was showing great leadership on the field and on the sidelines. He just wanted the opportunity and he got it, so he made the most of it.”
How concerned are you about the defensive performance vs. Louisville?
“Did we give up too many yards? Yes. Did we give up too many points? No. The bottom line is how many points a team scores. We made some errors which allowed them to move the ball, but they didn’t score points.”
What is the scouting report on North Carolina QB Cameron Sexton?
“He’s pretty good. Cameron Sexton is a guy who started for them in previous games and did a great job against Miami. He’s athletic, has got a great arm, and manages the game extremely well.”
On Donald Brown.
“He’s done a very good job, in my opinion, of reading his blocks and having good patience in terms of seeing things. His vision his very good and he’s done a good job of understanding things in front of him better than he has in other years. He’s done a good job of setting things up for the offensive linemen as well.”
On being ranked in both the AP (24) and the USA Today (23) polls for the first time this season.
“We’ve got to keep winning. If you don’t win, you don’t get ranked. I think it’s good for the fans, but it’s not going to help us go to North Carolina and get a win. We’ve have to go out and work our tails off until Thursday to prepare ourselves to get the win.”
