Head Coach Randy Edsall
Opening Statement:
"This week we have quite a challenge ahead of us with Louisville. Last year we went down there and they threw the ball for over 500 yards against us and last week they had a good win against Southern Miss, so we know we have our hands full with their offense. Victor Anderson is as good of a running back as there is in this league, he ran for over 100 yards against us a year ago. We're going to have to play a lot better defensively this week if we want to hang in there. Defensively they're good at a lot of things including not allowing points to be scored, so we have our hands full if we want to play well this Saturday."
On the missed tackles vs. Pittsburgh:
"We address tackling every week, but sometimes the level of players you're going against make you miss more tackles. We had a couple of guys who took bad angles, we had a couple of guys who thought somebody was tackled and failed to pursue, so it's just something that you show them in practice. Tackling is more of attitude than anything, you can make yourself a good tackler, although there are always guys who can make you miss."
On the competition for the starting QB slot:
"I spoke to both Zach (Frazer) and Cody (Endres) yesterday and we discussed it. Zach was number one coming out of the Spring, but he gets injured and Cody comes in and he's played well--just look at the numbers. He's performed very, very well. I told Zach he has to be mentally and physically ready to go because you never know what's going to happen. He's one play away from being back in there. I think he's a bit rusty right now but I told him he's got to be ready to go if the situation calls for it."
On LB Scott Lutrus' status for the homecoming game vs. Louisville:
"He's doubtful. He has more strength than he had a week ago, but the doctors want to see him at 100% before we see him back in there. It's one of those things with the nerves that once you get one, you're likely going to get it again. I'm just relaying what the doctors tell me, and they tell me he's doubtful for this week."
On WR Marcus Easley, who made a 79-yard TD reception vs. Pittsburgh:
"He's gotten a little bit more consistent with his play. You saw the nice move he made the other day to get away from the corner, and then once he caught it you saw the separation that happened. That separation is what we're trying to get him to do off the line of scrimmage. If he can do that, he can be a much better receiver than what he is. He's got the ability and frame that he could run over somebody too and get some extra yards. "
