Arad Earns BIG EAST and UConn Academic Recognition

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Dori Arad (Hahotrim, Israel) of the University of Connecticut men's soccer team, who completed his eligibility in 2008 with the Huskies, earned BIG EAST recognition as the UConn Scholar-Athlete award winner as announced by the conference Friday.
Arad has a 3.55 GPA in nutritional science at UConn. He played four years for the Huskies as he recorded 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points in 81 games.
He was a four-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and was named 2007 BIG EAST Tournament Offensive Most Valuable Player as the Huskies won the BIG EAST Tournament title. Arad was also named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team for his efforts.
University of South Florida men's soccer standout Zak Boggs was chosen as the 2008-09 BIG EAST Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a selection that was made by the Conference's Academic Affairs Committee. He is the first soccer player to be named Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the BIG EAST since 2005.
