Huskies Earn No. 1 Seed in the West Region

STORRS, Conn. (March 15, 2009)-- The University of Connecticut men's basketball team has been selected as an at-large participant to the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship as the No. 1 seed in the West Region.
The Huskies will open play on Thursday, March 19 against the No. 16 seed Chattanooga at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pa. The game will be the second contest in the afternoon session and will start 30 minutes following the 12:30 p.m. contest between No. 8 BYU and No. 9 Texas A&M. The winners of those two games will face off Saturday, March 21 in the second round at either 1:05 p.m. or 3:35 p.m.
The Huskies are 27-4 on the season in 2008-09 and are an NCAA Tournament No. 1 seed for the fifth time in school history.
