Bedard Taken In Second Round Of CFL Draft

STORRS, Conn. - Former University of Connecticut tight end Martin Bedard (Laval, Que.) was selected in the second round as the 14th overall pick in the 2009 Canadian Football League on Saturday by the Montreal Alouettes in a pick acquired form the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Bedard started six games for the Huskies in 2008 and had 13 receptions for 156 yards. He played in a total of 33 games for UConn over the past three seasons.
There were six former Huskies that played in the CFL last year, including: O'Neill Wilson and Terry Caulley with Hamilton, Jordan Younger with Edmonton, Maurice Lloyd with Saskatchewan, Shawn Mayne with Winnipeg and Larry Taylor, who Bedard will join in Montreal.
