Stahl & Watson-Siriboe Selected in 2010 MLS SuperDraft

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Former University of Connecticut men's soccer standouts Toni Stahl and Kwame Watson-Siriboe were both selected in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday in Philadelphia, Pa.
Taken by the Philadelphia Union with the 17 overall pick and the first pick in the second round, Stahl becomes UConn's 19th player to enter the MLS ranks since the league's launched in 1996. Watson-Siriboe was taken as the 26th overall pick by the Chicago Fire, making him the 20th Husky to go into the MLS.
Stahl finished his four-year career at UConn being named a 2009 NSCAA/Performance Subaru Second Team All-American, a College Soccer News Second Team All-American, a TopDrawerSoccer.com Second Team All-American as well as the 2009 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year. He was also an unanimous selection for the All-BIG EAST First Team for the third consecutive season.
Philadelphia, who will participate in its first season in the MLS in 2010, was awarded Major League Soccer's 16th team on February 28th, 2008. The club's first players were acquired on Nov. 25, 2009 in the MLS Expansion Draft, while it received three of the first seven draft picks at the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
Watson-Siriboe also achieved many honors in his final year with the Huskies as he was named the 2009 BIG EAST Co-Defender of the Year while earning a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team. He finished the year earning a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com, the Goal.com and the College Soccer News First Teams.
He joins the Chicago Fire, who finished the 2009 season in second place in the Eastern League standings with a record of 11-7-12.
The Philadelphia Union also had the first pick of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and chose Oregon State University forward, Danny Mwanga from Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
