Maya Moore Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn - Senior Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year Maya Moore has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week following her efforts in leading the Huskies to a victory over Marquette last week, as announced by the league on Monday. Moore earns the honor for the second time this season and sixth time in her career.
No other active BIG EAST player has earned the award more than once.
Moore scored 31 points, grabbed eight rebounds, blocked five shots, recorded four steals and dished out three assists in UConn's win over Marquette on Dec. 9. Moore has scored at least 20 points 56 times in her career and has notched 30 or more points on eight occasions. Moore was 12-of-18 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from long-range. Her 31 points marked a season high and marked the third time this season Moore has scored at least 30 points.
Connecticut is back in action on Sunday, December 19 when the team travels to New York City to take on No. 6 Ohio State as part of the Maggie Dixon Classic. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at Madison Square Garden and the contest will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
