"3.0 Night" Held At Women's Basketball Game

STORRS, Conn. -- An annual tradition of the UConn Division of Athletics was took place again on Saturday night as outstanding student-athletes were honored at halftime of the UConn vs. St. John's women's basketball game. Student-athletes who earned a 3.0 grade point average in either the spring 2009 semester or spring 2009 semester were honored.
The student-athletes were greeted by UConn President Michael Hogan and Vice Provost Nancy Bull, Director of Athletics Jeffrey Hathaway, Associate Director of Athletics Pat Babcock, and Director of the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletics Bruce Cohen and member of the CPIA staff: Felicia Crump, Ingrid Hohmann, Alana Linick, John Miceli, Mansour Ndiaye, Ellen Rennie and Rebecca Taylor.
In addition to the student who earned a 3.0 grade point average, eight student-athletes were honored for earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the 2009 spring and/or fall semesters. Those student-athletes are: junior Tabitha Basine (Provincetown, Mass.) of rowing who is an agriculture and pathobiology major; junior Jillian Cerar (Massapequa, N.Y.) of women's lacrosse who is a human development and family studies major; graduate student Alyssa Evering (Bel Air, Md.) of women's track and field who is a sport management major; senior Phylicia George (Markham, Ont.) of women's track and field who is a biological sciences major; sophomore Samantha Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) of women's soccer who is a finance and political science major; senior Sarah Leslie (Portland, Conn.) of women's track and field who is a nutritional science and biology major; sophomore Christine Vogel (Glastonbury, Conn.) of women's track and field who is a biomedical engineering major; and junior Kim Weber (Ridgefield, Conn.) of women's rowing who is a history and education major.
There were also nine Husky teams with a GPA over a 3.0 in either the spring or fall of 2009. The women's soccer team had the highest grade point average among all of UConn's 24 varsity teams with a GPA of 3.26.
