Flowers Places Second at NCAA Indoor Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -
Ranked 12th in the nation in the weight throw heading into the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championship, Victoria Flowers placed second in today's event final in Fayetteville, Ark.
Flowers' throw of 21.44 meters (70' 4 ¼) is the third best throw in the country this year as she set a personal record in each of her first three throws. Her mark is also a new UConn record, beating out her own record set at 20.74.
"It was a phenomenal effort and display of control by this young lady," said head coach Bill Morgan. "
Carin Knight will compete in the high jump later today, while Phlyicia George and Trisha-Ann Hawthorne will also compete in their respective event preliminaries as well.
