Emerson Flaker Named Maine Girls Track & Field Player of the Year

STORRS, Conn.- Incoming UConn freshman Emerson Flaker (Scarborough, Maine) has been named Gatorade's Maine Outdoor Girls Track and Field Player of the Year, announced in a release on Monday.
Flaker takes home Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season in Maine. The senior sprinter won the 200 and 400 meter dash at the Class A state meet for the second straight year, leading Scarborough to a second place finish. Flaker ran the lead leg in Scarborough's winning 4x400m team and anchored the second-place 4x800m relay team. Flaker ran the state's fastest 100m, 200m and 400m times this spring.
Flaker has maintained an 'A' average in the classroom and was the treasurer of the Scarborough High Class of 2025. Flaker has volunteered locally as a youth basketball camp coach and multiple community service initiatives through her school's Key Club.
The Gatorade State Player of the Year was established in 1985 to recognize the nation's most elite high school student athletes for their athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character.
