EAST HARTFORD, CONN. (April 17, 2010) - Redshirt senior quarterback Zach Frazer (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) threw for 307 yards and four long touchdowns to lead his Blue squad to a 30-13 victory over the White squad in the University of Connecticut Spring game at Rentschler Field.
Frazer connected with wide out Michael Smith (Houston, Texas) five times for 207 yards and three long scoring plays. However Frazer connected with Kashif Moore (Burlington, N.J.) on the first play from scrimmage when Moore got behind his defender and hauled in a perfect pass from Frazer and he rambled 70 yards for the score.
After the White team (which had the first team defense and the second team offense) marched down to score a field goal, Frazer and Smith hooked up for the first of their three connections on a 69-yard scoring strike off a flea flicker. After just 2:44, the Blue had a 14-3 lead.
Both defenses settled down after that and the White scored its only touchdown midway through the second quarter on a two-yard touchdown run by Martin Hyppolite (Wakefield, Mass.).
Redshirt freshman placekicker Chad Christen (Etters, Pa.) made a 32-yard field goal later in the quarter to give the Blue a 17-10 lead that it took into the locker room at the half.
Redshirt junior placekicker Dave Teggart (Northborough, Mass.) made a 41-yard field goal midway the third quarter for the White bringing them to within four, at 17-13, but Frazer and Smith connected from long range two more times, once from 75 yards and once from 57 to put the game out of reach,
Frazer finished with eight completions in 14 attempts, for his 307 yards and four scores. Cody Endres (Washington, Pa.) also completed eight of 14, for 56 yards.
The Blue rushing attack was led by junior Jordan Todman (North Dartmouth, Mass.) who rushed for 36 yards.
Jonathan Jean-Louis (Cambridge, Mass.) had a game-high 76 yards on 19 carries for the White. Redshirt freshman Michael Box (Suwanee, Ga.) led the White with 72 passing yards on eight completions in 12 attempts.
The defense standouts in the contest were the Blue's A.J. Portee (Austell, Ga.) (11 tackles including three sacks) and Sio Moore (Apex, N.C.) (11 tackles and one interception.)
The Huskies will open play in 2010 on September 4 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to play at Michigan.
