Billy Latta Named AHA Rookie of the Month

Storrs, Conn. - It was announced on Tuesday, January 4 that UConn freshman Billy Latta (West Chester, Pa.) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Association Rookie of the Month for December. Latta notched a point in four-straight games to end the month and finished December with two goals and six assists for eight points.
Latta started his four-game point streak with two goals, including the game winner, and two assists in an 8-5 victory at Niagara on December 4. He closed the month with assists in three-straight games, including the primary helper on the game-winning goal against Holy Cross in the opening game of the Toyota UConn Hockey Classic. Latta was named to the All-Tournament Team at the 18th Annual Toyota UConn Hockey Classic on December 30. He finished the month with a plus-four rating.
On the season, Latta has appeared in 13 games, tallying three goals with nine assists for 12 points. Latta has been a major factor in UConn (6-8-3, 6-4-1 AHA) victories this season. In six wins, the freshman forward has tallied two goals, seven assists and nine points.
UConn currently sits in sixth place in the latest AHA standings and will host eighth-place Mercyhurst for a pair of games at Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs on Friday and Saturday, January 7-8. Both games will begin at 7:05.
