Jeremy Lamb Named Preseason AP All-American

STORRS, Conn. - It was announced today that UConn sophomore wing Jeremy Lamb (Norcross, Ga.) has been named an Associated Press Preseason All-American. Junior Alex Oriakhi (Lowell, Mass.) also received votes as UConn was one of just four teams with multiple players receiving votes.
Ohio State center Jared Sullinger was the only unanimous selection as chosen by a national panel of 65 media voters. Lamb and Sullinger were joined by North Carolina sophomore Harrison Barnes, Wisconsin senior point guard Jordan Taylor and Kentucky sophomore forward Terrence Jones.
Lamb was previously named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team and the Wooden Preseason Top-50. Oriakhi was a Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team selection after averaging 9.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
The Huskies begin the 2011-12 campaign with an exhibition game against American International on Wednesday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion.
