Huskies to Take on Coastal Carolina in NCAA Tournament

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut baseball team will begin its road to the 2011 College World Series with a Friday, June 3 match-up against Coastal Carolina in Clemson, S.C. as part of the Clemson Regional. The Huskies will face Coastal Carolina at 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Tickets are available by clicking here or visiting the Clemson baseball website.
This will be the 17th overall NCAA Tournament appearance for the Huskies, including their second-straight, after making the tournament field in 2010 for the first time since the 1994 season.
The Huskies, who are 41-17-1 on the year, will be the No. 2 seed in the regional, while Coastal Carolina will be the No. 3 seed with an overall record of 41-18. Coastal Carolina enters the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big South Conference Tournament title.
Clemson (41-18), out of the ACC, was selected as the top seed in its own regional and will take on Sacred Heart (34-21), who won the Northeast Conference tournament title to earn the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The NCAA Baseball Tournament is a 64-team bracket, which is divided into 16 regionals. During the regional competition, there will be four teams playing in a double-elimination scenario. The winner of the region will advance to the Super Regional for June 10-13. The selection of the eight Super Regional sites will be announced on Monday, June 6.
Three BIG EAST teams were selected to play in this year's tournament as the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament Champion, Seton Hall, along with St. John's joined the Huskies among the 64-team field.
