The University of Connecticut Huskies will visit Buffalo on Saturday to take on the Bulls. Both teams enter the game with identical 1-2 records. The matchup marks the 19th meeting between the teams. UConn defeated the Bulls 45-21 at Rentschler Field last season giving them a 14-4 series advantage over Buffalo.
The Huskies hope to rebound from a 24-20 home loss to Iowa State last Friday. UConn needs to find their rhythm while it's still early in the season.
Head Coach Paul Pasqualoni knows that his team is ready and able to win as long as they show up to compete.
"The enthusiasm, passion, the play, the effort, those things are there," says Pasqualoni. "We've just have to improve and execute."
One situation the team is still dealing with is the quarterback rotation. Currently Pasqualoni has redshirt freshman Scott McCummings, junior Johnny McEntee and true freshman Mike Nebrich cycling in and out almost every play. He believes that "all three are capable" however he isn't ready to make a definite choice just yet.
"I'm not ready to declare who the guy is until one of them really steps up to the plate. It just hasn't happened yet."
Tonight's game is the perfect platform for one of the quarterbacks to have a telling, stand out performance. In general, a little fine-tuning is going to be key for a win against the Bulls.
Redshirt junior linebacker Sio Moore believes the team needs to heed attention to detail to avoid small errors.
"We can't be a team that is plagued by the little things. If we get beat it needs to be because the other team is flat out better than us and there is nobody on our schedule that is."
The Huskies will need to pull together all of their loose ends to ward off another loss. With both teams having a 1-2 record on the season, which hunger for a win will be high on both sides of the field.
