Drummond Tabbed Rookie of the Week For Fourth Time

STORRS, Conn. - UConn's Andre Drummond (Middletown, Conn.) continues to pile up the awards as the freshman center was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. Drummond averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 blocks to lead Connecticut to a 2-0 week.
Drummond shot 60.1-percent on the week (14-23) and had back-to-back double-doubles. He's notched three-straight double-doubles and six overall in his first season in Storrs.
On the year, Drummond has averaged 10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds to go along with 2.7 blocks a night. The BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year ranks second in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at 59.8.
In a 64-57 victory at home against West Virginia on Monday, January 9, Drummond went off for 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. He shot 9-of-11 from the field and added two steals.
On Saturday at Notre Dame, Drummond totaled 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead UConn to a 67-53 victory.
The Huskies stand at 14-3 overall and 4-2 in the BIG EAST Conference. UConn comes into the week at No. 11 in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 13 in the AP Poll.
UConn will host Cincinnati on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion in Storrs on Wednesday, January 18. The Bearcats are currently receiving votes in the polls and own a 14-4 overall mark with a 4-1 record in BIG EAST action.
