Red Sox Bobby Valentine Highlights Preseason Baseball Dinner

STORRS, Conn. -- The University of Connecticut baseball team held its annual Preseason Dinner on Friday night at the Rome Commons Ballroom in Storrs. The featured speaker for the event was Boston Red Sox manager and Connecticut native Bobby Valentine.
In addition, longtime UConn-Avery Point head coach Roger Bidwell was presented with the UConn Baseball Alumni Award.
Members of the 2011 UConn baseball team were presented with their BIG EAST and NCAA Championship rings and new members of the team for 2012 were introduced.
The UConn baseball teams opens up its season on Friday, Feb. 17 when it played Indiana in St. Petersburg, Fla., at 4:00 p.m. in the BIG EAST-Big Ten Challenge. The Huskies take on Purdue on Feb. 18 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Petrsburgh and Ohio State on Feb. 19 at 1:00 p.m. in Clearwater, Fla.
