Reigning Regular Season Champs Slated Third in Preseason Poll

The Huskies garnered 92 points in the 12-team poll.
Three UConn players earned a spot on the 2012 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Infielders Tim Martin (
Martin, a senior third baseman, batted .298 with four homeruns and 29 runs batted in, playing primarily as a designated hitter last year, and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Third Team. Mazzilli, a junior second baseman who is also a preseason All-America, batted .338, drove in 32 runs and hit 23 doubles. In 2011, he was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. Pavone, a redshirt-senior, missed the entire 2011 season due to injury. He is a career .281 hitter with seven homeruns and 50 RBI. In 2010, he hit .273 and belted five homeruns, while driving in 20 runs.
