STORRS, Conn. -The University of Connecticut women's basketball squad hosts Providence on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. in Hartford, Conn. at the XL Center. The game will be televised on CPTV and broadcasted live on the UConn Radio Network.
The Huskies (12-2, 2-1 BIG EAST) will look to rebound from only their second loss of the season that came on Saturday afternoon against No. 3 Notre Dame in a 74-67 overtime battle.
UConn is 38-21 all-time against conference foe Providence (9-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) and have won 26 straight against the Friars. PC is averaging 58.1 points per game with Teya Wright leading the way averaging 14.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
Sophomore guard Bria Hartley has led the charge for the Huskies in scoring as she averages 15.5 points per game and has notched five consecutive double-figure games and three 20-plus performances on the season. Along with Hartley, freshman Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis is second on the team with 14.4 points per game and senior Tiffany Hayes is averaging 13.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
The No. 3 Huskies defense has held teams to 45.1 points per game as UConn averages 13.3 steals per game with junior Kelly Faris having the most steals with 44.
