Pavone Selected to Academic All-District Baseball Team

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut redshirt-senior catcher Joe Pavone has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 1 Team, recognizing the region's top student-athletes in baseball.
The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District ® Baseball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs in 2011.
Pavone, a catcher from Rochester, N.Y. who sat out the 2011 season due to a torn ACL, will graduate from Connecticut with a master's degree in accounting and a 3.45 grade point average. He is currently batting .290 with 18 RBI, while serving as a team captain in his final season for the Huskies.
District 1 consists of universities from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
