Napheesa Collier Named American Conference Freshman of the Week

STORRS, Conn. - Rookie forward Napheesa Collier has been honored as the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. The selection is Collier's first and marks the second-straight week as Husky has been so honored as Katie Lou Samuelson earned the award last week.
Collier and the Huskies are in the midst of taking final exams but return to action on Monday, December 21 when the team squares-off against LSU at 7 p.m. in Hartford. The Huskies are offering a Holiday Special on December 21, which includes a game ticket, a hot dog and a small drink for only $15. Collier averaged 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds 3.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the No. 1 UConn women's basketball team.
Collier started the week with a 10-point, five-rebound, four-steal performance in the Huskies' win at Colgate on Wednesday evening. Collier also dished-out four assists in the win over the Raiders. She followed that up with a six-point, seven-rebound, four-steal effort in UConn's victory over No. 11/9 Florida State in the 2015 Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase on Friday evening. Collier earned the first start of her career against the Seminoles and played a career-high 32 minutes in the win.
