UConn Welcomes Fairfield Saturday

STORRS, Conn. - Fresh off a 13-6 victory on the road at William & Mary Wednesday, the UConn women's lacrosse team is back at it on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
Please be aware that due to the NCAA women's basketball tournament games being played at Gampel Pavilion there will be an increase in traffic and usual game day parking restrictions on campus Saturday.
UConn is currently 5-1 this season after defeating William & Mary 13-6 on Wednesday on the road at Martin Family Stadium. The Huskies got off to a commanding 11-0 lead after the first half, but the Tribe came out strong in the second half and managed to put up six goals.
Senior Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.) scored five goals for UConn, all of which came in the first half. Junior Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.) finished with a team-high, six-point performance against the Tribe, tallying three goals and three assists.
Finkelston currently leads the Huskies with 27 points (24g, 3a) followed by sophomore Grace Nolan with 21 points (17g, 4a) and Jordan with 16 (8g, 8a). Senior goalkeeper Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) has started in all six games for UConn, recording 57 saves for a .548 save percentage and an 8.21 goals against average.
SCOUTING FAIRFIELD
The Stags currently hold a 4-3 overall record this season after snapping their three-game win streak with most recent loss to Denver on March 13. Despite being down 4-0 at the start of the game, Fairfield battled back against Denver to tie the game 6-6 in the second half, but ultimately fell short of the Pioneers 10-6.
Junior Riley Hellstein currently leads the Stags with 31 points (28g, 3a) followed by junior Alex Fehmel with 21 points (15g, 6a) and senior Julieanne Mascera with 18 (15g, 3a). Senior Chelsey Sidaras has started in goal in all seven games for Fairfield, stopping 54 shots for a .425 save percentage and a 10.63 goals against average.
THE SERIES
UConn currently leads the all-time series against Fairfield 9-4. The Huskies and the Stags came together last season on Fairfield's home turf where the Huskies pulled out a 6-4 win over the Stags on March 18, 2015. Nee matched her career high of 15 saves and the Huskies allowed a season-low of four goals against.

The Huskies will remain at home for when they open conference play against Villanova on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m. against Villanova at the Sherman Complex.
