UConn Faces No. 4 Syracuse Saturday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The UConn women's lacrosse team heads to New York for a non-conference match-up with No. 4 Syracuse Tuesday, March 29 at 6 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
The Huskies are fresh off a victory against Villanova in their conference opener Saturday, where they defeated the Wildcats 13-8 in Storrs. Sophomore Kelsey Catalano (Stony Brook, N.Y.) led the team with four goals and four other Huskies tallied two goals apiece.
Senior Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.) currently leads UConn with 35 points (31g, 4a) followed by sophomore Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) with 32 points (25g, 7a) and junior Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.) with 21 (10g, 11a).
Finkelston is currently first in the conference and fifth in the nation in goals per game, averaging 3.88 scores per contest.
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) has started in all eight games for the Huskies and has recorded 77 saves so far this season. Her .556 save percentage is the best of anyone in the conference and her current 8.18 goals against average is the second best in the Big East.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse is currently 8-3 overall heading into Tuesday's match-up with a 2-1 record in ACC games. The Orange is 3-2 against ranked opponents this season with wins coming against Loyola, Northwestern and Virginia, and losses to Florida and Maryland.
Most recently, Syracuse is coming off an ACC victory at Notre Dame, where the Orange squeaked out a 12-11 win against the Fighting Irish Saturday despite being down 6-4 at the half.
Senior Kayla Trainor leads the Orange with 40 points (25g, 15a) followed by classmate Halle Majorana with 35 points (20g, 15a) and two players, freshman Nicole Levy and sophomore Riley Donahue, who both have 31 (20g, 11a).
Graduate student Allie Murray has seen the majority of minutes in goal for the Orange, starting 10 of 11 contests this season. She has tallied 45 saves for a .360 save percentage and a 9.15 goals against average.
THE SERIES
UConn is 0-18 against Syracuse in the all-time series. The Huskies and the Orange met in February of last season when UConn fell just short of Syracuse 12-11 in the Carrier Dome on February 25, 2015. Nolan and Finkelston each tallied three goals for the Huskies.
