STORRS, Conn. - After opening the season with two wins in three nights, the UConn men's soccer team checked in at No. 14 in the first weekly NSCAA rankings, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The Huskies picked up their eighth win in the last 10 season openers on Aug. 26, downing Iona, 3-1, behind goals from Abdou Mbacke Thiam (Dakar, Senegal), Alex Sanchez (Corona, Calif.), and Nkosi Burgess (Deer Park, N.Y), before grabbing a 2-0 shutout victory over Omaha on Sunday in front of a sellout crowd (5,100) at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
Earlier this week, Thiam and freshman Niko Petridis (Norwalk, Conn.) picked up weekly awards from the conference. For a complete release, please CLICK HERE.
