Megan Walker Garners First Freshman of the Week Honor

STORRS, Conn. - Freshman forward Megan Walker of the top-ranked University of Connecticut women's basketball team was tabbed the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week following a 2-0 performance by the Huskies. The accolade is Walker's first of her career and Connecticut's fourth conference honor of the season.
Walker averaged 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and connecting on all three of her attempts from long-range.
The Chesterfield, Va. native started the week with a 10-point, six-rebound effort in the win at Memphis on Wednesday. She followed that performance with 13 points and two assists in the win over Tulane on Saturday. Walker was 4-6 from the field against the Green Wave. She was also 6-7 from the free throw line during the week in 19.5 minutes per contest.
UConn (20-0) now has 25-straight 20-win season and won at least 20 games in 29 season, all under Head Coach Geno Auriemma.
The Huskies are back on the road against defending National Champion South Carolina on Thursday, February 1. The game will be broadcast on ESPN with tip-off beginning at 7 p.m.
