The Road to Storrs: A feature series on the UConn baseball players that grew up in the state of Connecticut. The series focuses on the hometowns and different routes that our Huskies took on their journey to UConn.
Dan Rajkowski, New Canaan
Chris Winkel, Orange
Troy Stefanski, North Stonington
Stafford Springs is a stone's throw from the University of Connecticut, which allowed Luke Broadhurst the opportunity to experience the school at an early age.
"UConn was always a frequent stop for me and my family," said Broadhurst. "We would always come up for basketball games and I would watch all the great players and think of what it would be like to be an athlete at UConn."
Broadhurst always had UConn on his mind as he molded into one of the top infielders in the state of Connecticut. The thought of being able to take the diamond at a school he connected with as a kid appealed to the Stafford star.
"It's awesome now that is has become reality," said Broadhurst. "You put in all the work hoping that one day you can see yourself in the uniform but for it to now be real and have the opportunity in a few months to put that jersey on, that's special."

The incoming freshmen joins a talented recruiting class that will push for playing time early on and whenever that debut eventually comes for Broadhurst he will be excited for all it represents.
"It will be a cool feeling to be able to not only represent UConn but to represent all the places and people that have gotten me to where I am now," said Broadhurst.
The Huskies will take the field in just over a month's time in Kennesaw, Ga. on Feb. 16 to open the 2018 against Kennesaw State.
