STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (14-15, 2-1 BIG EAST) lost 6-1 against Xavier (9-20, 1-2 BIG EAST) in the series finale on Sunday at Elliot Ballpark.
The key moment seemed to come in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Huskies down 2-0. Nater Wachter hit a fly ball to right that had a chance to tie the game but Xavier right fielder Clay Burdette went jumped up and robbed a potential game-tying two-run homer.Â
Xavier extended the lead to 4-0 and the Huskies looked to rally in the 7th with second and third and no outs. But the Huskies had to settled for a sacrifice fly from Chris Cancel.
Jackson Marshall, Evan Menzel and Nater Wachter all recorded mutli-hit games in the loss.Â
Next up, the Huskies hit to road to face Northeastern on Tuesday, March 31 at 2:30 p.m.
