Swim and Dive Compete at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The UConn swim and dive team returns to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 12 p.m. in dual meet action against Army.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies competed in its home opener last Saturday against Southern Connecticut and Central Connecticut at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium. The men defeated Southern Connecticut State, 168-104. While the women beat Southern Connecticut, 175-102, and Central Connecticut State, 164-82.
Senior Jackie Van Lew notched first place finishes in the 100 and 200 Freestyles, Julie Hu in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke and sophomore Ryan Dulaney won both the 500 and 1000 Freestyle events.
Out of the many freshman, Colby Prouty grabbed wins in the 100 and 200 Breast, Alli Grace a pair of wins in 100 and 200 Fly, Orry Zayit (200 Fly), Jack Gray (1000 Free), Tommy Schurer (100 Back), Emils Jurcik (200 Free) and Justin Corres (1M Dive).
CONFERENCE HONORS
Senior captain Monica Marcello took home American Conference Female Diver of the week while Prouty secured American Conference Male Swimmer of the Week.
Marcello returned to the pool after missing the 2017-18 season with an injury and won both the one and three-meter dives, setting a pool record with a score of 309.89 in the one meter. She scored 316.87 in the three meter, as her team defeated Southern Connecticut, 175-102, and Central Connecticut State, 164-82. Both of her marks meet the NCAA Zone Diving standards and are ranked in the NCAA's top 25. Her scores rank the highest among divers in The American this year.
In his first collegiate home meet, Prouty swam for two wins in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes to help the UConn men's team capture its first dual meet victory of the season. The Huskies outlasted Southern Connecticut State 168-104. Prouty's 100 breaststroke time of 57.71 ranks top four in The American. He won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.20.
LAST SEASON
The Huskies welcomed the Black Knights to the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium and split the meet with the women's side delivering a dominant 203-97 triumph while the men narrowly lost, 154.4-145.5.
Erin Clifford (Westtown, N.Y.) delivered a pair of wins on the diving end of the pool. The freshman logged a 255.07 score in the 1-meter and 248.10 in the 3-meter dive.
The women's 400 freestyle relay secured the top spot with a time of 3:31.49. Megan Wenman, Maddy Blair, Brazil Rule and Jackie Van Lew recorded the win for the Huskies.
On the men's side, Will Kearsey secured three individual wins in the 100 Back, 200 Back, 200 IM and swam the first leg in a 200 Medley Relay win.
Freshman Joshua Wroblewski (Farmington, Conn.) notched a first place finish in the 500 Free (4:34.04).
