Basketball Traffic Pattern Reminder
11/5/2021 3:00:00 PM | General, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Gameday
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn Division of Athletics is looking forward to welcoming fans back to Gampel Pavilion for a 2021-22 basketball season that promises to be exciting. Since many fans have been unable watch UConn basketball on campus since February of 2020, please take a moment to read the description of gameday traffic patterns outlined.
All game-day parking and traffic adjustments will begin 90 minutes prior to tipoff and will continue through the postgame period.
SOUTH GARAGE
GAME-DAY CUSTOMERS ARRIVAL INFO: Jim Calhoun Way is now fully open to vehicular traffic following the completion of the new facilities alongside the road. Fans are now able to access the lower entrance of South Garage on Jim Calhoun Way via Separatist or Alumni Drive.Â
Please note that due to the construction of the new ice hockey facility adjacent to the Freitas Ice Forum, there is no gameday parking available in I Lot and fans are encouraged to park in North or South Garage.
There are two entrances to the South Garage. The upper entrance can be accessed off Hillside Road -- starting from Route 195 (Storrs Road) by turning on Bolton Road (between E.O. Smith High School and the Fine Arts Complex), taking a right on Hillside Road and turning left immediately before the UConn Bookstore.
The same route can be used for leaving the garage from the top level after games.
The lower entrance, where ADA parking is available, can be accessed from Discovery Drive (off Route 44), straight onto Hillside Road, right onto Alumni Drive, left onto Jim Calhoun Way and right into the garage.
GAME-DAY CUSTOMERS DEPARTURE INFO: Customers can take a left onto Jim Calhoun Way, a right onto Alumni Drive, a left onto Hillside Road and then straight onto Discovery Drive or left onto North Eagleville Road to exit campus for points north and east. Taking a left out of the South Garage onto Jim Calhoun Way will also give fans the option of following Jim Calhoun Way until its intersection with Separatist Road. An additional option is to exit from the upper exit of the South Garage, which will present options to access route 195 or route 44.
NORTH GARAGE
GAME-DAY CUSTOMERS ARRIVAL INFO: Entry to the North Garage will continue to be available by going straight from Discovery Drive to Hillside Road or taking a left or right onto Hillside Road off North Eagleville Road.
GAME-DAY CUSTOMERS DEPARTURE INFO: All traffic exiting the North Garage will be required to turn right onto Hillside Road. There will be two lanes of exiting traffic on Hillside Road in order to accommodate efficient departures heading towards North Eagleville Road and Discovery Drive.
Please note that a Shuttle Service will not be available this year, but fans do have the option of parking in F Lot, on the north end of campus across from North Eagleville Road, free of charge.Â
