No. 2 Huskies to Face Vanderbilt in HOF Showcase

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 2 UConn women's basketball team (1-0) takes on Vanderbilt (1-3) in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase Saturday at 6 p.m. in Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The game will be broadcast on SNY and the UConn/IMG Sports Network.
The Huskies opened the 2018-19 season with an 85-53 win over Ohio State last Sunday. Senior Katie Lou Samuelson led UConn in the game with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Connecticut is 19-0 all-time in Mohegan Sun Arena. Beginning with the game vs. Vanderbilt, UConn will play 10 of its next 12 games away from home, including four neutral site games.
UConn is 4-2 all-time vs. Vanderbilt with the teams last meeting in 2014. The Huskies' newest assistant coach, Jasmine Lister, was a four-year starter for the Commodores and graduated in 2014.
Vanderbilt fell to No. 17 NC State, 74-54, Thursday evening. This season, the Commodores are led offensively by Chelsie Hall, who is averaging 14.8 points per game. Mariella Fasoula leads the team with 9.0 rebounds per game.
Looking ahead, the Huskies travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the 2018 Paradise Jam and will play games against Ole Miss, St. John's and Purdue. All games in the tournament will be aired on FloHoops, a subscription-based streaming service.
