The trio were named to watch lists for awards specific to their positions: Collier to Katrina McClain Award (top power forward), Samuelson to Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (top shooting guard) and Dangerfield to Nancy Lieberman Award (top point guard).
The three were also named preseason All-American Athletic Conference First Team. Samuelson was selected as the conference's preseason Player of the Year and a preseason AP All-American.
The Huskies welcome two newcomers to the team in 2018-19: No. 1 overall recruit Christyn Williams and No. 5 Olivia Nelson-Ododa.
Hall of fame head coach Geno Auriemma enters his 34th season on the sideline for the Huskies. He is assisted by Chris Dailey, who was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame this summer, former UConn standout Shea Ralph and newcomer Jasmine Lister.
The Huskies were picked No. 2 in the preseason AP and USA Today polls.
Vanguard is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA leading into the season. The Lions posted a 24-6 record in 2017-18 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship.
