No. 2 Huskies Win 2018 Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Senior Napheesa Collier was named the tournament Most Outstanding Player as the No. 2 UConn women's basketball team (5-0) breezed past Purdue (5-2), 86-40, to win the 2018 Paradise Jam Reef Division.
Collier scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds vs. Purdue. In the tournament, she averaged 18.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Senior Katie Lou Samuelson posted 22 points, including four three-pointers, Saturday. Freshman Christyn Williams notched a personal-best 17 points with five three-point baskets. As a team, the Huskies shot 62.5 percent (10-16) from beyond the arc vs. the Boilermakers.
Connecticut took control of the game from the opening tip. The team shot 73.3 percent from the field in the first quarter to take a 28-8 lead. Collier and Samuelson each scored 15 points in the first half as the team took a 47-18 lead into halftime.
The Huskies outscored the Boilers 23-12 in the third and 16-10 in the fourth. Williams went 4-for-4 from three-point range in the second half.
Samuelson was named to the all-tournament team.
Collier posted her third double-double of the season vs. Purdue.
UConn moved to 9-0 all-time in the Paradise Jam. The Huskies have now won three Paradise Jam titles.
The Huskies return home to the XL Center to face DePaul next Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SNY.
