STORRS, Conn. – UConn men's golf coach Dave Pezzino has announced the signing of Logan Broyles to a National Letter of Intent. Broyles will enroll as a freshman in the fall of 2019.
Broyles, a native of Mendon, Vt., has been a four-year player at Rutland High School, the same school that produced current UConn junior Drake Hull.
"We are very excited to add Logan to the program," Pezzino said. "His work ethic, attitude, and accomplishments will fit nicely with the culture we have worked hard to establish at UConn. Logan is just the type of student-athlete we would like to continue that legacy."
Broyles made an immediate impact at Rutland High, winning the Division I State Championship as a freshman, then recapturing the Division I title again as a senior. As a sophomore, he helped Rutland bring home the Division I Team Championship.
A two-time team captain and member of the National Honor Society, Broyles has also made a name for himself beyond his high school accomplishments. Playing out of the Rutland Country Club, he was the John D. Mineek Cup Champion, a Major Champions Invitational Team member (Team Keegan Bradley), and finished among the top eight in both the New England Amateur and the Vermont Amateur Championships.
"It came down to the total package," Broyles said. "From how welcomed I was on campus, to the whole student-athlete experience. UConn was just the right fit for me."
