Samuelson, Williams Earn Conference Honors

STORRS, Conn. – Senior Katie Lou Samuelson and freshman Christyn Williams swept the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors after helping UConn to two wins on the road last week.
Samuelson averaged 11.0 rebounds and 20.0 points per game last week. She also had three assists and four steals in the two games. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native notched her second and third straight double-doubles. This is her second American Player of the Week honors of the season and seventh of her career.
Samuelson leads UConn with 20.1 points per game this season and is second on the team with 7.8 rebounds per game.
Williams posted double-digit points in both the wins last week. She scored 14 while adding six rebounds at Oklahoma and had 13 points and four rebounds at Cal. This is the first time Williams earns American Freshman of the Week honors.
Williams is tied for third on the team with 13.8 points per game this season.
After a break for the holidays, UConn returns to action at No. 6 Baylor on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 9 p.m. ET.
