Veitner Honored as AAC Student-Athlete of the Year

STORRS, Conn. ââ'¬" Senior Charlotte Veitner of the University of Connecticut field hockey team was tabbed a 2017-18 Female Student-Athlete of the Year, as announced by the American Athletic Conference this week.
Veitner was selected as an "at-large" winner as the Huskies compete in the BIG EAST Conference in both field hockey and lacrosse. The Dusseldorf, Germany native was one of 13 females who were honored as. The annual scholarships issued by the conference are now awarded by sport, as opposed to by institution.
Each winner receives a $2,000 scholarship which may be applied to graduate or professional studies. The overall Female and Male Scholar-Athletes of the Year (selected from the individual sport winners), receives a total scholarship of $4,000.
Veitner owns a 3.393 GPA and will graduate this spring with a degree in engineering.
Veitner, a three-time First-Team All-American, played an integral role en route to the Huskies capturing the 2017 NCAA National Championship. Veitner led UConn to the program's first undefeated season (23-0) and was honored as the NCAA Field Hockey Division I Championships Most Valuable Player following a six-point performance (3g) during the Final Four.
