NORMAN, Okla. – UConn rising senior golfers Jimmy Hervol and Nick Harrington have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Hervol and Harrington are two of a record number of student-athletes, earning All-America Scholar status, including 265 in Division I, 126 in Division II, 62 in Division III and 23 in NAIA.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be either a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. Recipients must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his university.
Hervol, a two-time All-American Athletic Conference pick and a two-time PING All-Northeast Region selection, set a UConn record last season with a 71.6 per round scoring average for 35 rounds and shot 19 rounds of par or better. He had five Top 10 and eight Top 20 finishes in 2017-18, including an event title at the FAU Spring Championship in Boca Raton, Fla.
Harrington had a scoring average of 73.1 for 32 rounds last year. He had four Top 20 finishes and 13 rounds of par or better. He is a three-time selection to the AAC All-Academic Team.
