STORRS, Conn. – The UConn swimming and diving teams open the 2018-19 season by swimming for a great cause. The Huskies will participate in 2018 Swim Across America Open Swim in Narragansett, R.I. on Saturday, Sept. 8.
All participating teams will be swimming to beat cancer and each program has raised money for the event. The Huskies have raised 13,821 ranking fourth among teams and are nearly 92 percent to the intended goal. Zack Teffeteller leads UConn with over $1700 raised.

The Huskies look to build off momentum from head coach Chris Maiello's first year at the helm in 2017-18. UConn captured a bunch of school records on both the men's and women's side, won the House of Champions in Indianapolis and provided quality performances at the American Athletic Conference Championships.
Sophomore diver Erin Clifford returns after reaching the NCAA Zones last season under the guidance of 20-year head diving coach John Bransfield.
After being very young a season ago, the diving team will bring back Clifford and American Athletic Conference finalist Elizabeth Drab along Alyssa Annenberg and Kamrin Dawkins. Senior leader Monica Marcello makes her return to the boards after being out with injury last season. Kyle Kennedy and Torrington Wagner return on the men's side.
