STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team will be participating in the 2019 Headway Foundation Concussion Awareness Week. The Huskies, along with over 150 other hockey programs across the United States and Canada, will be impacting nearly 4,000 athletes as they collaborate with the Headway Foundation to promote a safer sports culture surrounding concussions through Headway's 'New Tough' Campaign, spread awareness, and provide educational resources for student-athletes.
"Oftentimes making a comeback and playing through injury is glorified in sports," said Josephine Pucci, co-founder of the Headway Foundation, and 2014 Olympic silver Women's Hockey medalist. "However, with Headway Foundation's New Tough campaign, we are acknowledging that sometimes dealing with concussions the right way is the harder thing to do, and it requires a strong mental toughness during much uncertainty."
