STORRS, Conn.—According to the American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, voted on by head coaches, the UConn softball team was selected to finish eighth in the league as announced on Wednesday morning.
USF, Wichita State, and Houston were teams who received first place votes.
USF's softball team holds the title of 'reigning champions', who concluded the 2018 season with a 39-23 overall record and 14-7 in conference play. The Bulls dethroned the Tulsa Golden Hurricane who finished the 2017 season atop the AAC standings.
Last season the Huskies completed a 20-35 overall record with a 5-16 conference record.

The well-balanced squad will start the season with a trip on Feb. 8th to Miami, Fla. to compete in Florida International's Softball Tournament. There UConn will face off against Bryant University, Michigan State, and host team FIU.
The Huskies will have a brief stop in Hartford to take on the University of Hartford in a doubleheader on Tuesday, Mar. 12th before heading back on the road. This season's home opener comes on Wednesday, Mar. 27th in a single game against UMass-Lowell.
